• Small Group: Students rolled a dice and but a dot on the corresponding number on their gingerbread man. This helps with number recognition.
• Large Group: Students finished their snowman they made on Thursday by decorating them with eyes, nose, button, hat/hair.

• Large Group: This week we are learning about the letter j. We made spread "jam" (paint) onto our toast (paper). We talked about how jelly/jam starts with the letter j. We also worked on our cutting skills.

Preschool 

• Large Group: We learned that in case of an emergency we need to call 911. We colored and cut out a telephone and on the dial pad colored in the numbers 9 and 1. They practiced called on their phone. We stressed the importance that we only call in case of an emergency.

• Preschool had the privilege of  attending the Recycalypso assembly in the gym after breakfast. 

 Book Orders are due Thursday, October 16th, 2014!

• Large Group: We used the items we collected on yesterday's nature walk to make a fall wreath.
• One on One/Small Group: Students put the correct number of leaves on the numbered trees.

• Quiz 3A

Preschool

• Large Group: We went on a nature hunt collecting fall items to make a fall wreath. The kids had a blast despite the wind.
• One on One/Small Group: We worked on our fine motor skills and sorting. The task was to TRY to use one hand to open and close a clothespin while picking up pom poms. They sorted them into three colors - green, yellow, and red. 
• We discussed out our feelings change.

**Reminder book orders are due Thursday, October 16th!

• Large Group: We made a square person. Students drew and cut out one large square for the body and four small squares for the feet and hands. They glued it together using folded paper for the arms and legs. We added faces. 

6th Grade Math

• Cumulative Chapter 2 Test 1-13 (page 1) due Friday

Preschool

• Large Group: We made homemade applesauce during large group. The four year olds peeled the apples using an apple peeler while the three year olds poured the ingredients in. I challenge you to ask your child your the steam, core, seeds, and skin are located on an apple. We briefly touched on the flesh of an apple.
• Small Group: Using a Q-tip dipped in paint, students traced the letters in their name. 
• Look for an updated newsletter to come home!
• Book orders are due THURSDAY, OCTOBER 16th. 
• Please let me know your child's pajama size (verbally, email, phone call). More information on this will come home at a later date!

• Large Group: We taste tested different kinds of apples; red, green and yellow. The students decided if they like them or not. We graphed the results.
• Small Group: Students worked on making a capital D.

Reminder tomorrow is picture day! If you choose not to order pictures, your child will still have his/her picture taken.

• Large Group: We learned dog starts with the letter d. We made a capital D look like a dog by adding spots. Tomorrow we will add a ear, nose, mouth, and eye.

• Small Group: We practiced making a lowercase d both on lined paper and on a whiteboard.

      On Wednesday is school pictures! Children who do not normally attend on Wednesday can either come in at 8:00 am for pictures or they can attend school and change days. Please let me know! Also, do not forget to bring back your picture order form if you wish to order pictures. If you do not wish to order pictures, you child will still get his/her picture taken for the year book.
  
      Please do not feel obligated to order from the book order form that went home today. If you do wish to, please bring it back by Thursday, October 15th!

• Large Group: We made circle people today. Students drew and cut out circles for the body, hands, and feet. We folded paper back and forth for the arms and glues. Students glued everything together. They are hanging up in our room for you to see tomorrow1

• Small Group: We love our families beary much! Yes, BEARY very! Students used cookies cutters (some are bears) and dipped them in paint. They pressed it onto their paper. They did this till they had an outline for every person in their family.

• Large Group: Students drew pictures of family member who live with them. We labeled each person.
• Small Group: Students cut apart paper tiles containing the letters in their name. Students placed them in order and glued them onto construction paper. They counted the letters in their name.

• Large Group: Students cut out the letter C and used pom poms, googly eyes, and pipe cleaners to make it look like a caterpillar. We learned that caterpillar starts with the letter C.
• Small Group: We worked on making both the capital and lowercase c.

• Large Group - Today we learned that butterfly starts with the letter b. We made butterflies using the letter B. We put the a cutout of the letter B on top of contact paper. They placed tissue paper on the middle of the two humps.

• Small Group - We worked on our counting. Students counted the number of laces on the football and matched it with the correct number on a volleyball.

• During circle time the students went on a scavenger hunt to find circles that had the letters Bb on them. They had to look closely as some had Aa on them.

Preschool  

• Large Group Activity: I am a girl/boy. Students identify if they were a girl or boy. the cut out a circle and decorated it with yarn for the hair, choose jewels pom poms or drew their nose on, and did the same for their mouth. We then graphed the faces to see if we have more girls or boys in our class.

• Small Group Activity: Students practiced writing their name. If they already knew how to write their name we worked on correctly making and identifying each letter. For the students who are just beginning to write their name we worked on tracing and identifying the letters in their name.
