Large Group: We took a field trip to the fire station. The kids had a blast! They learned firemen and police officers are our FRIENDS! We also learned about STOP! DROP! and ROLL!
Small Group: We are finishing up reviewing what we have learned so far in preschool!

  • Large Group: We read The Rainbow Fish. We talked about the importance of sharing with our friends. We painted with water colors a fish. Tomorrow we will place a shiny fin on it.

  • For large group, we learned that Native American used to live in tipi's. Each student built a tipi using paper and pipe cleaners.

Preschool 

  • Large Group: We learned that in case of an emergency we need to call 911. We colored and cut out a telephone and on the dial pad colored in the numbers 9 and 1. They practiced called on their phone. We stressed the importance that we only call in case of an emergency.

  • Preschool had the privilege of  attending the Recycalypso assembly in the gym after breakfast. 

 Book Orders are due Thursday, October 16th, 2014!

  • Large Group: We used the items we collected on yesterday's nature walk to make a fall wreath.
  • One on One/Small Group: Students put the correct number of leaves on the numbered trees.

Preschool

  • Large Group: We went on a nature hunt collecting fall items to make a fall wreath. The kids had a blast despite the wind.
  • One on One/Small Group: We worked on our fine motor skills and sorting. The task was to TRY to use one hand to open and close a clothespin while picking up pom poms. They sorted them into three colors - green, yellow, and red. 
  • We discussed out our feelings change.

  • Large Group: We made a square person. Students drew and cut out one large square for the body and four small squares for the feet and hands. They glued it together using folded paper for the arms and legs. We added faces

  • Cumulative Chapter 2 Test 1-13 (page 1) due Friday

Preschool

  • Large Group: We made homemade applesauce during large group. The four year olds peeled the apples using an apple peeler while the three year olds poured the ingredients in. I challenge you to ask your child your the steam, core, seeds, and skin are located on an apple. We briefly touched on the flesh of an apple.
  • Small Group: Using a Q-tip dipped in paint, students traced the letters in their name. 
  • Look for an updated newsletter to come home!
  • Book orders are due THURSDAY, OCTOBER 16th. 
  • Please let me know your child's pajama size (verbally, email, phone call). More information on this will come home at a later date!
