- Today we talked about what are next season is going to be. We discussed what our favorite food is to eat in the summer. We made paper ice cream cones. We talked about the different shapes we needed.
- Our book this week is "Insects". We colored the pictures as we read the book.
- We also worked on our preschool program invitations today. Be sure to check your child's backpack.

6th Grade Math
We wrote thank yous to the area business who donated circus tickets. The students also drew a picture of their favorite part of the circus. If they were unable to attend, they drew a picture of what they thought would be fun at the circus.
We worked on Pete the Cat color books today. Throughout the week we will read them in different ways. We have a CD to go along with our books we made.

- We read The Tiny Seed by Eric Carle. We talked about the different parts of a plant. The students planted their own flowers. We will watch them grow.
- We made a booklet about position words. They have to draw Wiggle to match the words on the page.

- Thank you parents for coming to our activity day. Before you came, we read A House for Hermit Crab. We took pictures yesterday to look like we were hermits. We made our plain house (paper plate) beautiful by adding water color. Tomorrow we will be adding our picture to the shell. We also started practicing writing the letter w.

- We learned about the letter W. We listed words that start with the letter w. I challenge you to ask your child what are some words that begin with the letter w. We also painted today using items you find in the kitchen.

- Oh no!! The leprechaun made a big mess! Our toilet water was even green!! He slept in the leprechaun trap thinking it was his house but escaped before we arrived at school!! Today we made leprechauns. We talked about words that begin with the letter v. We are starting to work on writing our last name.

Lucky the Leprechaun made another visit to our classroom! He left footprints on the computer desk!! We are still working on our trap! Today we talked about wind. The students were able to create wind using straws. They put paint on their paper and blew it around!!

- Lucky the Leprechaun made a visit to our room this weekend and dumped out the blocks and markers! We have not finished the trap yet but we are hoping to catch him.
- We started talking about weather. I challenge you to ask your child what some weather words are.Today we painted a sun. We put drops of paint on our sun and then covered it with cellophane wrap and had to spread the paint around.

- If points run up and down, look at y coordinates.
- If points run side to side, look at x coordinates.
- If the points are in the same quadrant, subtract.

- Today the students designed new socks for Fox in Socks.
- They were so excited about Pete the Cat and the leprechaun that visited our room that started making a leprechaun traps.

- Today we looked at another Dr. Seuss book. We read The Foot Book! The students painted with their feet! We worked on independence today. You may find some paint left on your child's feet as they had to wash their feet!

This week the students have been experimenting. At our science table they have had the following items: baking soda, flour, salt, corn starch, vinegar, water, and kool aide. They have made volcanoes, play dough, and slime.
Also, we have had mystery words. I come up with a word based on what they are doing or our activity. We discuss the word on the card. I also have the letters hidden around the room. They have to find them and match them up

- Quiz corrections for half credit are due on February 11th.
- We learned how the groundhog saw his shadow. We put together a booklet where students who will go into kindergarten next year filled in the blank. All students colored the pages.

- Today, we talked about how important it is to keep our teeth healthy. We learned that when brushing our teeth we need to make tiny circles with the toothbrush. We practiced this technique when we brush expo marker off of a paper laminate tooth. We also made a list of different ways to keep our teeth clean.
